Happy Birthday, Tymime! by Fischotterchen Happy Birthday, Tymime! by Fischotterchen
Happy birthday to my awesome bro duo, :icontymime:!!!
I've been wanting to draw your awesome character Bernardo Lovelock [link] for some time, so this was the perfect opportunity! He's harder to draw than I expected - kudos to you guys for keeping him on-model all the time! I also didn't realize how bad colored pencil would look after going through my crappy scanner... TT^TT
I hope you guys like it, and have an awesome double birthday! :w00t:

That's cool! I can't remember the last time somebody drew our own characters... I think it was when we were on The Lion King Fanart Archive?
This brings up an interesting question... Who would be so bold as to offer admiration to someone who is unwilling to reveal their inner feelings?

What? Really? I honestly can't figure out why your characters aren't more popular than they are. THEY'RE AWESOME! Maybe they just haven't been discovered by the right sort of people...
I didn't really have a specific story in mind, but I figured maybe someone who was also like that, and hoped to ease him out of his shell?

Perhaps I should be posting them in more general cartooning clubs. Also, I still feel having them in color would help...

You actually have more ideas for stories about him than I do. Whiteblood's received more of my attention...

I'd be inclined to agree - I've been noticing that my own color work gets more comments than my black-and-white...I guess it's just more eye-catching? I'm going to experiment by posting some ordinary sketches with Day-Glo backgrounds and see if that makes a difference.

Well, I love his concept! I still think Bernardo would be a popular character for a female audience :) I do like Whiteblood, too, though - the concept of a lighter-hearted vampire is rather refreshing.

I was gonna just sloppily add unshaded color to some of the more complete poses of our sketches...

I do admit, I like designing characters with younger women in mind, and Bernardo was meant to be appealing in that regard.
I should clarify that Whiteblood is technically not a vampire- just a guy with vampiric tendencies. He likes to drink blood and keeps nocturnal hours, but he doesn't need blood to live and can be out and about in daylight. To further confuse things, he's able to bite people and heal their wounds like a vampire, but that comes from scientific experimentation on his own body- he thinks himself a healer, but has dubious means.
